Major Progress Update - Phase 3 Campaign Underway!
We've made significant strides in our campaign with meetings secured with all local TDs, thousands of leaflets delivered, and a crucial meeting with the Transport Minister confirmed for early July.
We're excited to share a comprehensive update on our campaign progress since June 7th. The Herbert Road Action group has made remarkable strides in our fight to keep the Herbert Road-N11 junction open, and we're now entering Phase 3 of our campaign.
Political Engagement Success
We have successfully secured meetings with all four of our local TDs:
- Edward Timmins TD
- John Brady TD
- Simon Harris TD
- Jennifer Whitmore TD
Our mission was clear: we wanted all four TDs to arrange a meeting with the Transport Minister where all parties could meet together to discuss our concerns. We're pleased to announce that this crucial meeting has been confirmed for early July.
Dáil Recognition
Our campaign has received official recognition in the Dáil, with TD Brady and TD Timmins raising our concerns. This parliamentary attention is a significant step forward in our campaign and demonstrates the seriousness with which our elected representatives are taking this issue.
Community Outreach
Our sub-committee has been working tirelessly to keep the community informed:
- Designed and produced informative leaflets with clarified maps of the Exit 7 proposal
- Sponsored by Egan Business Centre and printed by Printshop Boghall Road Bray
- Our dedicated volunteers have delivered over 5,000 leaflets to the Bray community
- We now have over 22 estate representatives across Bray
Footbridge Committee
Our footbridge committee continues to grow with a great roster of volunteers. We welcome newcomers every Friday and the team is expanding week by week. This grassroots support is crucial to our campaign's success.
Media and Public Support
We've received excellent support from local media:
- East Coast FM has provided significant air time and support
- Special thanks to EC producers and Declan Mehan for their continued coverage
- We've built a worldwide following on Facebook
- Bray Town Hall has invited our campaign to speak in the Bray chamber on July 1st
Phase 3 - The Final Push
We are now entering Phase 3 of our campaign. This represents our last chance to secure plans that keep Herbert Road open. We firmly believe that we can have both the bus corridor and Herbert Road - it doesn't have to be an either/or situation.
